Driftwood
was first started when Tim started to teach his now partner Clare how
to
play folk music..........
Then
Dave, an old
school friend started playing with them. They began gigging and became
Driftwood
Tim
plays classical and acoustic guitar and also the penny whistle. He
started to learn guitar in his school days and progressed through York
university where he gained his first class degree in music technology.
There he also studied classical guitar under Graham Wade.
It was at university
where he was introduced to folk music. He
was soon playing in sessions regularly and became a founding member of
the band Light Brown Sugar with his fellow
university friends.Together they played numerous ceilidhs,
weddings,
parties corporate
functions.
Clare
is a classically trained violinist and a talented
vocalist.
She has been fortunate to be able to play violin with a
variety of orchestras and ensembles over the years. She has also sung in
choirs and choral groups in venues all over Europe. More recently she began
enjoying folk fiddle, and has played many
sessions, ceilidhs and other folk dances.
Clare
also sings a variety of jazz, and folk music with
the band.
Dave is a classically
trained singer and guitarist, and studied music at Oxford Brookes
University.He sings a variety of genres from Opera to Jazz with groups
such as Oxford Touring Opera, The City of Oxford Orchestra and Musica
Viva.
He has been fortunate enough to perform all around the world. Dave is
also a talented guitarist and more
recently he has been
introduced to playing folk. He also plays piano.
Driftwood also have many
talented friends that they can call on to play for larger
venues and different genres. Back
